Greenpeace Ship Has Whaling Fleet On The Run.

Source: Esperanza Weblog

I just had to make time for this latest news article, as the Esperanza ship located the Japanese whaling fleet on their radar yesterday, today they caught up with them, which in turn made the fleet run in an attempt to evade the greenpeace ship.

This is great news as while the whaling fleet are on the run they cannot hunt, and when they do slow to hunt whales the Esperanza will attempt to put themselves between the harpoons and the whales, a direct non-violent action to protect the whales. You can read the full weblog article here: “We found the whaling fleet“. And you can even check out the live webcam on the Esperanza.

Tony’s View:

First I need to apologise to my regular readers for not being able to post articles for some time, my broken finger has given me more trouble than I can deal with in my regular day offline which has not given me enough time online to research articles and make posts.

After seeing this latest news I just had to make the extra effort to inform you,as we have all been following this ludicrous whale hunt from the very beginning, and this is great news that greenpeace has at last been able to start creating at the very least lost time for the whalers and probably already saved a few whales in the process.

There will surely be a lot more action over the coming weeks and I will at least get to post the updates as and when I get them. I’m missing the time I used to get online and I can’t wait until I can resume full time blogging again. I do apologise again to my readers and will try to get back on track as soon as is humanly possible.

Let me know your thoughts on this latest news.

How far do you think the greenpeace crew will go to protect these whales?

Do you expect other countries to become involved now?

Bad Start To A New Year. GNB Update.

Hi all,

I have to apologise for my not posting recently, but I managed to break one of my main typing fingers while shovelling snow last week and just trying to type this up is apparently a major task. For someone like me who uses every finger while typing, then resorting back to virtually one finger typing is a major drawback. Just this first section has taken me over half an hour and almost every letter has been typed twice as I try to get used to the keyboard all over again with one less finger.

I will attempt to get some articles published each week but it won’t be my regular amount for a while and I apologise in advance to my regular visitors. I will also continue to check your blogs but forgive me for not posting like I used to, at least until I get a system back where it doesnt take me half a day to post a comment.

I feel I am lucky really after hearing about the 33yr old who died shovelling snow. Up until now I have never broken any bones and I really didn’t appreciate how much you need something as simple as one finger, things you take for granted like, rolling a cigarette, making a simple cup of coffee or even getting dressed.

All I can say is don’t take anything for granted and please be carefull while shovelling your driveways, I hope you all had a better start to the new year and wish you all the best of luck.

“Fairytale Of New York” Censored.

Source: Telegraph

This very famous song by The Pogues has been re-released and could well be in contention for the number one spot over christmas. Radio 1 bosses decided to bleep out the word ‘faggot’ for fear it may offend homosexuals.Read the full story here : “BBC censors The Pogues Christmas classic“.

A spokesman said:

“This step has been taken as this is a word that members of our audience would find offensive.”

Tony’s View:

I think this is a little silly, you have hundreds of songs with cuss/swear words in that is offensive to many but they don’t get censored, if you don’t like the words of a song you don’t buy or listen to it.

I actually love this song and play it quite regularly around christmas, it’s a song about two lovers arguing at christmas time, they call each other names and faggot happens to be one of the names, she also calls him a ’scumbag’ and there are plenty of those about, do you think they should ban the word scumbag in case it offends scumbags?

It’s part of the song, that particular verse is a lot of what makes the song, in case you were wondering, this is the verse:

“You scumbag, you maggot you cheap lousy faggot, Happy Christmas your arse I pray God It’s our last.”

This was actually a well put together song which has stood the test of time and people will continue to play this just like all the other christmas favourites, it’s quite a funny song and it was never intended to offend anyone.

The funny thing is that whenever radio 1 bans a record or censors a song it invariably goes straight to number 1 so they are probably doing The Pogues a favour, I don’t need to say anymore. I will be listening to The Pogues this christmas as I do every year, as well as some other ‘near the mark’ bands.

Merry Christmas to everyone and a Happy New Year!

Do you think the BBC should have censored the one word?

Do you think it makes a difference?

Are you a fan of The Pogues?

Do you think the censoring the words of this song will, as before increase record sales?
